How to get to Tioman

I'll pick up where i left off!
After the chicken rice dinner, we followed fred and susan back home to their place, because we were not allowed to stay with the grandparents.
Susan & Fred's house was sooo amazing for us after having lived in a tiny shit one roomed studio apartment in hong kong for the past 2 months. It was wünderbaaar!
However, our stay there this time would be for only a couple of hours!
It was late at night, probably past midnight.
We finally got a hold of the internet again, and started searching for busses that would take us to Mersing in malaysia. From Mersing we would take a ferry to Tioman.
The busses were nt reachable by phone and the internet did not help much other than give us the locations of where the busses leave from singapore.
We ended up deciding that we would wake up at 5am, grab a cab to golden mile complex in singapore at 5.30. This is where the busses to Mersin leave from.
Once there. . . we would just have to hope that there were busses available to book!
So we quickly started getting ready for sleep.
We probably got into bed at around 2-3am. . . giving us 2-3 hours of sleep haha. It sucked!
Well in the morning (Btw, Fred and Susan were very nice to us, they helped us with the cab and were pretty much awake when we were, so they didn't get that much sleep that night either!)
We packed our bags and walked downstairs to the cab.
The cab driver was an extremely talkative indian man, haha he was rambling on the entire half hour trip to Golden mile complex. He was talking about the F1 races that would be held in singapore that weekend, he talked about a hooker that always stood on a street we passed by, he talked about everything.
All i wanted to do was sleep. . . . He was funny though.
When we got to the Golden Mile Complex, we saw people waiting outside, a small group. A good sign, because they also had packings and some of them were westerners looking like they were ready to travel.
However, the buss office was not open yet, so we sat outside the office for a while until one tired employee walked in and started preparing.
When the office finally opened, i ran inside and asked for 2 tickets to mersing as soon as possible.
Oh right, the reason we woke up this early is because the buss ride should take about 4 hours, and the last ferry from Mersing to tioman leaves at around noon, and it would suck ass if we missed the last ferry and had to find a place to stay in mersing. . .
Anyway, we were lucky! All i had to do, was pay and we got 2 buss tickets on a buss that left at 6.30am to Mersing!
I was so happy that everything with the busses worked out! Cause i was a bit worried the night before. However, i was still worried about the ferry to tioman which we still hadn't booked, nor did we have a place to stay in Tioman. . . . in worst case scenario we would have to sleep outside on some beach that night haha.
Well Claire and I got on the buss. After filling out some immigration forms, passing through the singapore immigration and then the malaysian immigration, Claire and I finally got to catch up on our sleep.
After a while of sleeping the woman guide that followed along on the buss asked us where we were going and if we needed to exchange money.
When we told her we had not yet booked any ferry rides, she said we just had to pay her and we'd get the tickets. Which we did and it worked out fine.
When we told her we did not have a place to stay in tioman she said that her friend would show us the Panuba Inn Resort (The place we were checking out on the internet when we were still in hong kong) office and help us book a room.
When we told her we had to exchange money. . .. no i was worried.
She said she could help us exchange money. . .. but when i asked how much the rate between american dollars and malaysian ringgit was, i got a number that baffled me.
I thought that the american dollars would yield me a much higher amount of ringgit than she offered!
So i started suspecting her for wanting to cheat me of my money.
So i told her, i would get back to her on that one.
I tried calling fred who works for a bank in singapore, but the damn phone wouldn't work.
I tried to get a hold of internet to contact Yee Yee who is always online msn. . . . but no such luck.
It sucked. . .. i had no idea if she was cheating me or if she was being honest. . .
Finally i ended up walking to one of the westerners on the buss who i overheard speaking german.
When he told me how much the ringgit were juxtaposed to euros. I could estimate the value and realized she was telling the truth and that i had thought ringgit were a lot weaker than they actually were.
It may not sound very troublesome, but this process of finding out if someone wanted to cheat me of my money or not, especially when i could not contact anyone close to me, or check the internet for rates. . . . It was a looong and dispairing experience hehe. . . . it turned out well though!
When we arrived in Mersing, we got off the buss and met up with the guide's friend, who offered to drive us into town where we could visit a bank and change some money at the money exchanger. To walk into town from the pier where the buss had stopped was too far.
The man first drove us to the bank, wher Claire took out some money.
Then he drove us to the currency exchanger where i changed my remaining hong kong dollars, a bit of the american dollars and a bit of singaporian dollars into Malaysian Ringgit.
Very troublesome. . . . the initial plan was to change the money when we were in singapore earlier that day, before we got on the buss. . . .. but it was too early and nothing was open. . . . this fact had frightened me the entire ride from singapore to mersing hehe.
After the man had helped us out in town, he drove us back to the pier, took us to the Panuba Inn Resort office where i got a "Durian room" for Claire and I.
Afterwards, the man showed us the ferry office, where he helped us buy return tickets which you could use on any day, so we didn't have to confirm a comming home date (Because we didn't have one).
I ended up realizing that we should tip this man for all his help, so i told Claire and we gave him a fairly generous amount of malaysian ringgit. He was happy and assisted us a bit further before we took farewell of him and got on the ferry to Tioman.
While on the ferry ride to tioman which took about an hour i think, i kept on trying to get it through my head that everything had worked out!
A few days ago i was certain we wouldn't even make it to singapore!
After that horrible experience (FULL OF STRESS) of leaving hong kong, and then everything that had happened today and the night before, which was also very very troublesome and stressfull. . . .. . . . i just couldn't believe we were actually sitting on a ferry toward paradice with moeny, and a booked room at the resort we had tried to reach for about 2 weeks without success back in hong kong! It felt unrealistic.
I could just feel the breeze blowing in our faces, i could see the clear waters, i could see islands, i could feel the heat, i could finally breathe again. . . . . now for a week. . . . no worries. . . no problems. . . . no connection to the world outside of paradice tioman!. . . . . just me. . .. Claire. . .. and the beach. . .. .and beer. . .. and coconuts. . . and. . . etc.
That sums up the trip to tioman!
haha, hope everything is well with everyone!
Lotsa Love

Aaaahh yeees, i'm sorry it took so long, but a LOT of crap was going on hehe, but as you can see i am healthy and well in australia already!
Please do not worry about me handling two bloggs, trust me, it's so easy, i just press ctrl + c and then i paste all this into the other blog. . . . takes. . . . less than 30 seconds! It's alright i'll keep the white one as well!
Yeeeeeeh i'm well aware of the serious life comming closer and closer, i've already applied to universities and so on, so now i just wait! But i think i have learned a LOT of very very valuable lessons during this time. . .. things that would have taken years to learn if i had jumped straight into school.
Well, Claire's grandmother Disa actually grew up in stockholm! Her last name is Björkman and her mother grew up in kiruna!
I'm not sure how long i will be in australia to be honest. My return ticket is on the 20th f november, but i might extend it. . . we'll see
Hopefully Claire will come sometime after christmas perhaps? I hope anyways haha
Ofc you may ask as many questions as you'd like, the questions i dont' want to answer i won't answer, but doesn't hurt asking ;) Besides, there's not many questions i wouldn't answer haha
Well i hope everything is well with you! And please, try to get facebook working! I have many many more photos there!
Lotsa love

Farfar
Haha yes, the girls love your comments that you leave on my photos. And my friends can't believe that you're my grandfather haha.
As for internet on tioman, we did manage to get a hold of internet for one night before dinner at the resort's reception. . .. . we only had time to use it to search for our next hotel because we were leaving the place the next day. . . . didn't help though we didn't find anything haha
hahahha wise words my grandfather, yes you are correct. A superstar such as myself should be flying in a private jumbo jet with swimming pools and open bars! You know how to live!
Yes i will bring back presents for the relatives back home, but mainly for Fred, Susan and their maid who took so well care of us!
hahha yes it was a horrid experience, don't worry, soon my posts will be only about beaches and beautiful weather!
Hope everything is well with you farfar!
Send my love to Farmor and the bimark family haha.
Lots of love!

Long Awaited story of how we left hong kong!

Hey heeeeey!

Well i haven't be able to write anything in a long time because; well you'll soon find out how stressful my last stay in hong kong was, then after that we went to tioman where you'll soon find out how my agency got really anxious because there was no internet on the entire island, and finally back in singapore i didn't have time to write anything either because i was with Claire and we were busy meeting all our old friends!
It's been full up for quite some time folks! But now i finally have time to once again sit down and write a post in peace!

Ok so i'm going to start with everything that happened prior to the tioman trip, if i have the energy/time i will continue to write about the tioman trip, if i can't i will just post this, that way i won't delay the post any further hehe.

Well 3 days before Claire and my departure from Hong Kong, i went over to the agency to drop off my book, settle finances and bid farewell!
It was nice, i took some photos of them, they took some photos together with me etc.
Then before i left, Vani, the head of the office informed me that there would be a typhoon on wednesday! The freakin day we leave Hong kong with a ferry to Macau where our flight back to singapore leaves from! OOOOMMMGGGGG!!!!!
Claire and I had been joking about this when i booked the tickets, i remember saying "haha imagine if a typhoon blows up on the day of our flight, closing all the ferry terminals hence preventing us from reaching Macau, hence causing us to loose our flight. . . which btw is budget which means we can't change dates" I said something like that. . . .. this is probably cleaned up significantly but you get it ;)
I remember Claire saying "Yeh, knowing our perfect timing with everything, that scenario isn't impossible"
When i got home i was distraught, not only was i pissed and worried about the typhoon interfering with our plans, but;
- Daniel, the guy who Claire and I was goin to spend our time in singapore with, told us a new roomate just booked the empty room, so we now had no place to stay because grandma is too freaked out by germs.
- I could not get a hold of Claire and she didn’t have any keys so i was worried she was locked out somewhere.
- The Panuba Resort (The resort in tioman we preliminarily booked) personell refused to pick up their phone, so we couldn’t confirm a room.
- I called Tiger Airways and consulted them about the possibility of a refund in the case of the typhoon interfering with the Ferries from HK to Macau, hence preventing us from reaching the airport. . . . Apparently a refund was impossible, because it is a budget airway.
- Now. . . . the worst part. . . . what finally cracked me. . .
I started viciously slamming my fists in the bed. . .
Claire and I were planning on staying in Tioman until the 6th, in fact, the only reason Claire was comming back to singapore instead of her original plan of returning home to asutralia, was becuase we were headin to tioman.
I open my hotmail to check my emails, there’s one from the agency.
I had previously sent them an email about our plans. . . .. now they tell me that i have to be back in singapore the 2nd for a few fittings.. . . . . SMACK in the face it hit me. . . . basterds i thought. . . .i was soooo soooo soooo ANGRY, i was FURIOUS. . . . I called the agency, i had a long convo over msn. . .. but nope. . . i couldn’t get them to change the date. . . . i was boiling
- I couldn’t think of what to do. . . everything was falling apart, i was so lost, i was distraught, i really really wanted someone to talk with. I remember wishing that either mom or dad would call and help me out. But i just sat there trying to figure out what the h*ll to do.
It was one of the worst hours i’ve ever spent abroad.
And i still couldn’t get ahold of Claire and ask her for any opinions.
However, finally Claire arrived home, i explained the situation, and she calmed me down. . . . Now time for solutions.
With the help of mom, we found accomodation at Fred & Susan’s home.
I decided we’d head to tioman already the next day, (That is, one day earlier than we anticipated) book a hotel and spend the night, for safety’s sake.
Panuba inn. . .. still no response
The fitting thing. . . . Claire said she could live with it. . . we’d still have a fair amount of time there, and we brought up lots of stuff we could do in singapore which we still have not done.
For the rest of the day we packed a bit and went on with whatever it was we did that day.
The next day (Teusday), i went online and booked a hotel in Macau, then we headed off to the post office where Claire was going to post some of her baggage home (That woman can SHOP i tell you. . . she was way overweight).
After wrapping a big box and signing several documents, we grabbed a cab home.
And what do ya know? The radio announces that the typhoon will hit one day earlier than expected (That is. . . today).
They were also kind enough to mention that ALL ferry activity will cease at 6pm. . . .. . Great. . . . it was about 5pm then. . . I started panicking. . . .
When we got home we started smashing the remainder of our belongings into our luggage, i naturally began to sweat despite the aircondition.
Well. . . at 5.30 we finally threw in the white flag and decided it was impossible for us to finish packing, grab a cab to the ferry pier, book a ferry and then catch the last one before 6pm. . . . .
I was lost. . . I was shaking of stress and i was worried as shiet . . .
I called around to EVERY ferry company. . . everyone in hong kong is retarded. . . no one can answer any simple questions. Customer service is a f*king joke in HK.
Only information i could derive from the calls was that we weren’t going anywhere that night. .. .
So. . . i said screw it! Now we go eat at Pizza Hut and drink beer. . . .
We did. . . and it was amazing. . . . love pizza hut. . . love beer.
We decided we’d wake up at 7 am the next morning and start calling the ferry terminals again, to see if any ferries to Macau were still running.
So. . . next day. . . Wednesday. . . .the day of our flight.
I wake up. . . start looking up the numbers on the internet again, and begin making calls. Barely any ferry companies were open.
I went back to sleep, set the alarm at 8am.
We called around. . . . but as usual the customer service is mentally challenged in HK. (You can tell that at this point i was so fed up with that bloody city i just wanted to leave. . . . Claire felt the same. . . Unfortunately we really really really dislike that place)
I was speaking with Cathy over msn at the time as well, she suggested we go down to the pier and check with the ferry personell in person.
So we got ready, grabbed a cab and headed to the pier.
Turns out certain ferries are going and that the earliest one we could catch was at 12.30pm. . .. . . . . i was worried however, we were REALLY pushing the timing, the man said that it would take 2 hours to get to Macau. That means that we would arrive in maccau at 2.30pm, leaving us 30minutes to reach the airport and check in before the check in counter closes. That’s right, before the check in CLOSES. It was stated clearly that no exceptions would be made, if you’re not there before 3pm, you’re screwed.
I personally have never been in macau so i had no idea how long it would take to get from the ferry pier in Macau to the airport. . . . we were REALLY pushing it.
However, we decided to buy the tickets, head home, grab our luggage and head abck to the pier.
I had to carry claire’s luggage down the 12 fleets of stairs. . . . . she buys a lot but she doesn’t have the strength to carry it all haha.
Oh btw, i had called Tiger Airways once again, and they had told me it was possible to change the date of the flight to singapore, as long as the change is made 4 hours before take off. There would be a few additional fees and ofc we’d have to pay the price difference between the new ticket and the one we had already purchased (I had found the cheapest one on the net, and the alternative would have been at least 500HKD more!)
Anywayz!
We got back to the pier, i went and queued with the luggage while Claire went to fetch lunch.
When she came back she had bought a shitload of sushi, and it was cheap!. . . . I was starving as well. . . the sushi was DELICIOUS!
Now we were both all happy and amazed that we got a ferry to macau after all! We were pretty certain we would make it to the airport, and finally we were breathing normally again.
We went through all immigrations etc and boarded the ferry.
We continued eating the sushi while waiting for the ferry to initiate it’s journey.
Once we had finished our sushi, i took out my laptop and we began watching the movie ”Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny” (Hilarious movie if you haven’t seen it).
We were laughing and happily watching the movie, relaxing, snacking on something we had bought .. . can’t remember what.
In the meantime about 80% of the boat’s passengers were vomitting their guts out.
It was a really rough journey, and I told Claire about that time i had gone to bintan with my family, and pretty much only Dad, Kim and I were the ones that weren’t vomitting. It was a REALLY rough ride hehe.
In fact. . . it was so rough, that it stopped! The bloody boat stopped out in the middle of bloody no where, big waves and heavy heavy rain were pummeling us.
In all honesty i was a bit scared, you know; that little cold sweat that breaks out when on an airoplane and suddenly turbulance hits you with an unusual force, and you begin to question how much the vessel can take? Well that’s kind of how i was feeling. . . . btw, while i’m writing this i’m sitting in seat 43F on the flight to melbourne. . . . how exciting! :D
Ok back to the boat;
I had more things to worry about than just my life as well. . . Claire and I got VERY concerned about the boat stopping, seeing as how we were on such a tight schedual. . . . . I decided we wouldn’t make it, so i tried calling Tiger Airways, and ofc. . . Neither of our phones were working. . .
When we finally arrived in Macau, i showed no mercy anymore. I did not have time to be Mr.niceguy anymore.
I got Claire and myself out of our seats as soon as i saw a glimpse of land.
Unfortunately we could not reach our bags which we had stowed a bit further away from the entrance. The reason we could not get to them was because pissing first class passengers were prioritized to leave the boat first, hence they had put up red rope blocking second class from queuing by the door. . . .. FAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRKKKKKKKK!
I was once again in my stressfull trembling state.
Finally the boat docked, and as soon as the first class passengers had left the boat, i began furiously pushing my way past everyone in the queue toward our bags, firmly gripping Claire’s hand and dragging her along behind me.
I ripped out our bags and we started getting off the ship when some bloody indian stepped in between Claire and I.
Remembering how Macau Claire that i would rush ahead and try to beat the crowd, saving her a spot for when she manages to push through.
If you’re curious of how long it took the singaporians and I to clear the immigration last time. . . . .well it took more than an hour . . .. and i couldn’t allow that this time.
Still panting and trembling i ran past everyone i could, reached the immigration and to my delight i saw that there were several lanes still empty.
I waited. . .
I waited. . . .
I wate. . .. . WHERE THE HELL IS CLAIRE?!
Finally she came and she said her bag got stuck in a net on her way to the immigration. I shit you not. . . someone REALLY didn’t want us to catch this flight. . .
We only had 2-3 people infornt of us.
We cleared the immigration in no time.
I was really stressing Claire, i just pushed forward and forward without uttering a word.
Then to my fear i realized we had no Macau money at all, so i was like SHIT SHIT SHIT SHITTTTT!!!! Because we needed to pay for a cab.
So i got Claire to change some of her remaining HKD into Macau money, luckily it barely took anytime at all. . . still freaked me out.
We ran outside, i checked the time. . . . .15 minutes left. . . .SHIIIIEEEETTTT!
I ran around and asked people WHERE’S THE CABS?!!!!
We got pointed in a direction and started rushing off toward the Taxi stand. . . . .
Then to my dread. . . .
I saw that the taxi queue, was so long that it bent once and people were starting to queue outside the designated queing area.
It was over. . . .. that faint flicker of hope i had, everything i stressed through. . . lost. . . . no point. . . . I felt sick in my stomache. . . .. I was breathing heavily and my head felt a bit dizzy.
I took out the phone, tried calling tiger airways to see if they could make an exception and rebook. . . . . shit phone still didn’t work. . . .
We waited in the queue, very intensley following how one person after another got their cab.
Time was really running out, but miraculously we managed to get a cab when it was 10 minutes left before the check in closed.
That little flicker of hope sparked back to life and i once again began my furious rampage.
I rammed our luggage into the booth of the cab and ushered the woman to drive the hell to the airport.
I didn’t even care when the booth couldn’t be closed properly and the lady said that straps weren’t necessary.
We got in the cab, and as i was counting seconds, i was thinking. . . what else could possibly go wrong?
I’ll tell you what else could possibly go wrong.
THE SERVICE OF F*KING HK AREA PEOPLE IS WHAT CAN GO WRONG!
Our cab driver. . . she was a goddamn JOKE!
(Pardon my language, but i feel it gives more of a realistic feeling to how i felt hehe. . . and oh yes i was screaming out cursewords loud enough for many people to hear at the time)
The booth lid. . . . flipped open, i yelled at the bloody woman HEY HEEEEEEEEY THE BOOTH THE FRIGGIN BOOTH!
She’s like ”Oh. . .”
Fking moron. . . .
So there we go, she stops the car and walks out to put the straps on, i was chuckling inside the cab, much like dad does when he’s agitated and can’t really believe that what’s happening is actually happening. More time wasted. . . . time which we deffinitely do not have.
We drove and we drove, the time grew closer to 15.00. . . .
The time reached 15.00. . .
The time passed 15.00. . .
At 15.03 we arrived at the airport.
Claire hurriedly paid the bloody woman, while i ran outside jerked off the straps without the driver’s assistance, ripped our luggage, started RUNNING inside with my bag, while yelling at Claire who was just exiting the cab ”I’M GONNA RUN AHEAD!”
I ran toward the slide doors, they didn’t open, i yelled out, almost as if i was yelling at the people sitting outside ”WHERE THE F*K IS THE DOOR?!” everyone looked at me. . . i couldn’t care less.
I finally found the slide doors and ran inside, madly, close to insanely flinging my head back and forth i finally spotted the Tiger Airways check in.
I ran toward it.
There was a guard there.
An X-ray machine.
The gaurd asked where i was heading, i spoke more calmy this time (With good reasons), i told him singapore, but i was still quivering and panting from the stress. My eyes and nostrils flared open.
I see Claire come running toward me.
I ask the gaurd. . . are we screwed or do we still have time to check in?
I caught a glimpse of a watch in the airport showing 15.05. I kept reading what it said on the ticket over and over in my head; ”… CHECK-IN CLOSES AT 15.00 NO EXCEPTIONS”
. . . .. .
. . . .
. .. .
. . . . ..
.. . . .
. . . .
. . ..
. . . . . .
.. . . . .
. . . . .
.. . .
The gaurd laughed.
And as if he broke out into song;
”No problem, you guys have lots of time, chill out”
I think i stood there for a while without uttering a single word, i needed time to comprehend what i had just heard.
I had time?
I would actually make it to singapore?
Maybe you don’t understand, but after what i went through those two days, this was like lifting a refrigerator off my chest.
I was so relieved i can’t even begin to tell you hwo i felt.
To increase my nervosity and unwillingness to loose money, i was also extremly worried about my economy the last few weeks in hong kong because i had decided i would make a trip to australia. . . . and well, for about 6 years now i have always wanted to go to australia, so naturally i wanted as much money as i could possibly have during this trip.
I was worried already about my economy, imagine if i had lost thi flight and had to pay for a new one?
Anyway, both Claire and i were so relieved, i couldn’t help but laugh, and smile all the way to the check-in. Even Claire agreed. . . .it felt unreal. . .
I could not believe i was about head back to singapore and then head off to paradise in tioman for about a week!
I loved every second of it. . . . i felt sooo sooo sooo good.
Once inside the airport, we went and grabbed a few well deserved beers.
And i will not lie to you, on the flight we drank whine, and in my opinion, we deserved it. . . . after all that stress that took off at least 10 years of my life. . .. a well deserved beer was JUST the thing i needed!
It was a wonderfull flight. . . . .. . and Unbelieveable flight.
And when we finally arrived in singapore, Fred, Susan, Cathy, Guama and Gong Gong were there awaiting our arrival.
We went and ate chicken rice. . . . superb. . .. both Claire and i were so happy to be back in singapore!
Now i can finally post this part of my story, the remaining parts will come soon.
I land in Melbourne in 27 minutes, i.e if we land exactly on schedule!
I can’t wait. . . i miss Claire very much, and i’m eager to explore melbourne

I also miss all of you very much

Lotsa Love

/Alex

Ok so let's start off with the jobs:
1st job took place the day after i wrote my last blogg post actually!
I woke up at around 11am and started getting ready.
As soon as i could i headed off to Palace IFC which is a huge shopping mall filled with more expensive brands (Ie. Clothes i would not want to purchase)
Palace IFC is a familliar place though because this is where we always meet when we are going to grab a ferry to one of the nearby islands.
After a bit of searching i find the boutique "7 for all mankind". I personally have never heard of the brand, i also doubt that any of you have ever heard of it haha. Claire however says it's a really good brand. . . so i suppose that's nice to hear haha
I walk into the store and well it's not really the kind of clothes i would wear, they were a bit too mature for me i think hehe. . . or well "too mature", they just weren't really my style :P
In the store i was greeted by the boutique staff, and i was told to sit down and wait for the director of the shoot.
I relaxed for a while and just listened to my mp3 during the wait, eventually a woman came together with a man carrying a bag filled with camera equipment.
The man started setting up the stand alone flash upside down umbrella thingies, and started test shooting around the shop, while the woman started sorting clothes.
I was told to put on my first outfit.
Most of the shots were taken inside the store, which was pretty interesting i suppose;
The first setting was infront of a pillar covered by chaines hanging down from the ceiling, i was told to stand infront and kind of grab a chain and just do whatever haha.
The second setting was infront of an artsy fartsy wall with holes in it and what not, so i could lean in on the wall and just kind of do whatever. At some point i was told to kneel down as well to display some detail on the jeans i was wearing.
The third setting was on a wooden platform infront of a pretty display of some of their products. This one was easiest because i just had to sit down and well there isn't much i have to think about while sitting down hehe.
After the third setting i was told to wait again. . . so i sat down and just kinda chilled for a while.
After quite a long wait the woman came back into the shop and appologized, she said there was a mix up with the outfits so some of them were still on their way from chai wan which is on the other end of the mtr line. . . . so i took my opportunity and asked if i could run down to mcdonalds and buy some lunch ( I had a tiny breakfast maybe 2 hours earlier but i was so hungry ). She said it was absolutely no problem, so i rushed downstairs and bought myself a big n tasty supersized meal + a double cheezeburger.
I rushed back to the store, it actually took some time because this mall is friggin huuuuge!
When i got back they were unpacking clothes from a black plastic bag, and i was surprised they had already arrived.
She told me in a fed-up tone that apparently the clothes had been in the shop the entire time. . . . so a mix up in a mix up. . . haha
Well i got into my final outfit which was adiddas clothes. . . i don't know what affiliation addidas has with 7 for all mankind but this was my final outfit anyway.
I walked outside and the final setting was on a outdoor serving area. . . . . i was SWEATTING! Because i not only wore a t-shirt but also a really sweatty jumper, it kinda had fur on it. . . who in their right mind would wear this in asia? haha.
Well luckily that shoot didn't take very long, was a bit embarassing as well because there were a lot of people out on outdoor area as well :P
I was thanked and we walked back to the store where i put my original clothes back on, picked up my bag + mcdonalds and headed back to causeway bay to consume my mcdonalds.
The shoot wasn't very fun. . . it was pretty boring actually. . .. It was different from singapore because noone really spoke english. . . so there wasn't any fun communication like the shoots in singapore. . . . that sucks :P
Oh about the outfits. . . well the bottoms were pretty standard, pants and jeans, aside from the addidas outfit which was a tighter fitted black pair of jeans. The tops were mostly t-shirts + a jacket or a shirt + a jacket, it was pretty ok looking clothes, just not my style hehe.
Well i guess that pretty much sums up my first job in hong kong. . .During the shoot Claire and I texted back and forth as well, she was doing some show i'm not sure which one, she seemed pretty bored as well haha.

Ok on to the Docker's levis rehearsal.
This took place on saturday (Which by the way is five months since i first kissed Claire. . . thought i'd lay that out there haha)
I didn't have to wake up early at all today, because the call time was at 6pm i believe.
I kind of rushed a bit though because i thought i was running late, the building i was supposed to head to was all the way in kwun tong which is really far from where we stay. However i made it just in time so i wasn't late (Besides they don't seem as stern on punctuality in hong kong as they are in singapore).
I walked into the building called "Millenium City 1" (They have like 6 different millenium cities. . . a BIG hassle the first time i tried to find this place, but a lot of castings are in these buildings, so i know them by now ;) and bumped into donny from america, i hadn't spoken with him prior to this meeting but i know i had seen him before at some casting. I figured he was here for the dockers levi's show as well so i fired up a conversation with him and we headed to the elevator lobby together.
At the elevator lobby, we bumped into Daijiro from japan and the client for the show. Together with them we took the elevator up to the office i had previously had the casting at.
We were told to sit and wait. While waiting we all just talked about random things, apparently both Daijiro and Donny had, had a big night the night before, and were both pretty smashed today hehe.
Eventually Milo arrived and was also told to wait. I had spoked to her before at some other casting a long time ago, she's from hong kong and a very cute girl. I believe she is with Cal-Carries as well.
Before long, the client returned and escorted us onto a roof area outside of a chinese dimsum restaurante. We were told to sit down around a fountain (Which would later be the setting for the show). As we were waiting more models started arriving;
A buff blond man from Estonia which i got a long very well with, funny guy can't really remember his name though.
A buff Canadian-Chinese guy who was very very into photography (He carried around a backpack filled with camera parts and tripods everytime i saw him, that bag was HEAVY!). Also this guy i got a long very well with, he was always searching for new things to photograph, quite interesting.
An italien guy who despite looking older, acted about as childish as me. Haha really funny guy, he was like a child, curious and making jokes about everything. Also a bit stupid because he kept forgetting the sequences hehe.
A tanned exotic looking woman with a cheery smile, i think brazillien. Anyway, apparently i had met her before but i can't remember anyone i meet in Hong kong, you just meet so many people all the time. . . it's difficult haha
A tall skinny white girl, also from brazil but at first i thought she was russian.
Another girl who also fit the above description.
Aaaaand. . . .. think that's all! Counting, me Daijiro, Donny and Milo. . .. . i actually have a feeling there was one more guy. . .. hmmm. . . . oh well. . . I was the youngest anyway.
After we were all sitting around chatting for a while, the coreographer arrived. He was a big buff man (Obviously gay), who spoke good english, he was asian. . . not entirely sure from where but i'd be guessing hong kong.
His directing was well organized, he had printed out sketches of the set, and drawn lines displaying the paths we would walk, accompanied by O's that marked where we were to stop and pose.
There were only three sequences we had to memories;
Triangle
Couples
Single
and ofc a finale which was easy because we just had to memorize where to stand after following the coreographer out onto the stage.
The triangle sequence was to be remembered for only one outfit because it was the opening sequence.
Three male models would be out at the same time. Once those three had done their synchornized walks and stops, they would get into their final positions on the stage. Now 2 of the female models would walk out and stop on the stage. This would be the signal for two of those male models to walk forward to the audience, pose and then walk off. (What happens after that i have no idea, because i was one of the two that would walk up to the audience and then walk off).
I had two outfits involving the Couples seuqence. 2 models would be out at the same time (First time, i would be paired with the italien guy, second time i would be paired with the russian looking brazillian woman). This time i would only have to synchronize the walk and stop with one other person until we both ended up next to eachother on the middle of the stage. Then we would walk off the stage toward the audience, pose and walk off.
The singles sequence. . . i don't remember how many outfits i had for these sequences, but it would involve about 3-4 models out at the same time, all following the same route consisting of walking and stopping, until you finally exit :P
And well the finale was simple, everyone just walks out at the same time in a straight line following the coreographer. We all end up on stage, i end up in the middle. Clients, designers, directors blablalbalba all come and join us, clapping hands cheering whatever. Then the unimportant clients walk off, followed by the models, leaving the designers on stage for a while more.
THE END!
haha well that sums up the sequences anyway, but good lord. . .. you know how in singapore, you have a fitting day where you go and try on clothes, then you have the show date which is also the same day as you do the rehearsals for the first time. Logical and simple. . .
Here, today we had the fitting AND "PRE-rehearsal" on the same day. . . . . so we were rehearsing for a show we would have 3 days later, and on the show date we would also rehearse. . . . now this would make sense it were some intricate dance. . . but this is so simple hehe.
Anyway doesn't sound that annoying but let me keep going :P
A bit away from the stage was out fitting room filled with racks of clothes, i think i had around 5-6 outfits.
Each model had to put on each outfit, walk outside, have the designers take a look, green light it, have them take a photo and then walk back to the fitting room and change to the next outfit. During this we would also be rehearsing for the show, every now and then the coreographer would step in and say ok now let's try this blalblalba.
It just didn't feel as organized as in singapore. In singapore a fitting would take perhaps 30 minutes, a rehearsal would take perhaps 30 minutes MAX. Here we were told it would take 3 hours. . .. we ended up going overtime and doing 4 hours. . . the models were PISSED, they all had other appointments etc. I myself was supposed to meet Claire and Aleksandra for dinner, so i was also a bit stressed, it was extremly sweaty and peoples moods were just going down the drain haha. The canadian-chinese guy was especially pissed. Most of us were pissed, specifically because were weren't getting paid for this and it shouldn't take this long, and when they go overtime on something we aren't getting paid for doing people start getting pissed haha, not to mention everyone was freakin hungry.
I was originally the guy that would be closing the show, but they decided to change me with the guy who was opening the show, so i got a whole new set of clothes.
Well . . . anywho, i managed to make it to dinner in time. . . or well not really but Claire had stashed away some food for me, so i could eat when i got there.
And that about sums up the night of the docker's levi's rehearsal/fitting!

Now on to the actual show day:
I do not recall how early i had to wake up, but i remember it was the first time i've ever had to wake up BEFORE claire and i also got to the office around the same time that people working there arrived. . . so it must've been around 8-9am. . .
Once again however i remember i was stressed as shiet, i hastily walked toward millenium city 1, and ran around the building trying to find people. I took the elevators up and down and visited every place we had been during the rehearsal. . . however, when i after a bit of searching ended up back on ground floor i saw a few of the models sitting at starbucks, apparently they had been told to wait there till further instructions. . . . stress was over.
We sat there for a while, as more models started arriving, eventually the clients came down and took us up to the same fountain we had been at 3 days earlier during the rehearsal and fitting.
After some waiting, we just quickly rehearsed each of the sequences, and everyone was surprised of how much of the sequence they could remember even today. . . most of us thought we would've forgotten the sequence by now hehe.
After the rehearsal, we were all taken to an office room for hair and makeup. This is where i spent pretty much all day. . . the Estonian guy was sitting to my left playing ice hockey on his PSP while we conversed about random things and Daijiro sat to my right playing some soccer game on his Nintendo DS.
The Canadian Guy and the italian guy were going on and on and on about cameras and editting etc.
The american guy. . . i don't remember what he was doing but him and I ended up having a long chat about america as well.
The chicks on the other hand, were busy getting their hair and makeup done. . . . same here as in singapore. . . girls take hours to get ready before a show, guys take 10 minutes.
Everyone was hungry. . . . and as lunch we were served bullar and tårtor. . .. . .it was retarded. . . .
At around 5pm the chicks were finally done and the 10 minutes required for each guy was initiated.
Close to 6pm we were told to go for the last bathroom break.
At 6pm we were all ushered upstairs for one last rehearsal before we were quickly pushed off stage because the audience was about to be let in.
Everyone got into their first outfits and then we waited.
We were given more desserts, and a glass of wine each.
Oh btw, the stage was complete today, before it was only the fountain, today they had backdrops behind the entire scene, where it said something about san fransisco. The entire backdrop was also a panorama of the golden gate bridge, and some lighthouse.
Well, the designer walked up on stage and started talking abit, while all the models were organized into a line backstage.
The designer said "Alright, now what you've all been waiting for blalblablal" the music started playing and i was told to walk out first.
Even though i hadn't done this in a while, i wasn't nervous at all. . . it was a simple show and i was confident about the sequences so i had nothing to worry about.
I just walked out and did my thing.
Only concern of the show was that i had to change pretty quickly into certain outfits. . . so that was a bit exciting, other than that. . . it was just nice to be in the spotlight again haha!
The show went smoothly and flawlessly, before i knew it i was already standing on the center of the stage behind the clients and designers clapping my hands off.
After the show, everyone walked backstage and started changing back to their own clothes.
Thereafter we were given a dinner buffet with a bit of wine.
I thanked and left a bit early because i once again had dinner appointments with Claire and Aleksandra.
I suppose that pretty much sums up the docker's Levi's show. . . .

Well, on to the Docker's Levi's fitting show:
The night before, which is the night i had the Levi's show, i had to go home early after dinner and sleep. Becuase i had been follow up booked for the next day for a fitting job.
I was curious. . . i had never done a fitting job i didn't know what to expect.
I walked off, waking up for the second time earlier than Claire, back to millenium city 1.
This time i had pretty good time on me.
While walking toward the elevator in the building, i spotted the Canadian model and made fellowship with him to the office floor of docker's.
We walked into their office and were told to take a seat and wait a while.
We grabbed some water to drink and just chilled, until the designer came and led us into a room.
In the room were several tables with maybe 4-5 people sitting at each table.
In the middle of the room was a projector, projecting a power point presentation onto the wall infront of all the people. There was also one of the designers explaining each of the clothing details, such as the significance of this and that, what material, what colour blablablabalblaa.
It felt odd walking in there and quietly walking past the front of the room with everyone staring at you haha.
Well the canadian guy and me were taken to a corner of the room where several racks of clothing was standing, along with some boards which would function as a changing room for us.
With the help of the dressers we were changed into our first outfits before we knew it.
It was interesting listening to the presentation. It was interesting listening to how much concern they put into each and every detail of a clothing and how they estimated how that specific detail could affect the sales of the product.
At the table furthest back in the room, there was a man seated how stood for perhaps 75% of the hand raising for suggestions, concerns and questionings. . . . . I'm pretty sure this table was the american table haha.
Oh right i didn't explain, each of the several tables in the room had people seated around it representing each of the major buying countries of the Docker's Levi's brand.
So this job was pretty much for the buyers to take a look at the clothes, comment it, decide how many samples of the product they wanted, take up any concerns about the product, etc.
I'll get to that soon.
Well finally the dressers said "Alright get ready".
Then the person presenting the power point presentation came to the point "Key outfits". The key outfits were the outfits the canadian guy and I wore.
At this point we were told to walk up infront of all the people and just stand there while the designer would point out and explain various aspects of the outfit, such as a stitch style over here, and a pocket design over there, or a significant detail over there, etc.
It was interesting. . . i really felt like an object haha, i turned around, held up my shirt to display the cutting of my pants, changed position to show off some detail the designer was highlighting etc.
It was really interesing haha so different from anything i'd done before :P
For example, the american guy made a HUUUGE fuss about one of the pants, it had a satchel in the back and he first wondered why it was so tiny, then why it was so low down and then blalbalblalblablalblalblalba. During this whole job, the buyers were talking about how commercial soemthing was, we also wore some of the limited edition outfits, and they explained why it was limited and yadda yadda.
Other things could for example be a shirt i wore, the buyers all agreed it would be better if it were produced with a slim fit, rather than a classical fit.
I'll be honest, i felt pretty special haha! I wore EVERY piece of clothing that Levi's will be releasing this comming season, which means i am the first person in the world to wear most of these pieces, and some of them might never even see the light of day. For example, i'll be the only one in the world to have worn that shirt in classical fit. . . everyone else will wear it in slim fit, etc.
There were a lot of clothes the candian guy and I went through, i believe there were about 5 collections which all had 5-10 different outfits in them.
So for 4 hours all i did was change into the next outfit and display it haha.
Well. . . . aside from a little lunch break where i snatched some sandwiches and drinks, and aside from tiny breaktimes between collections where i would sit and talk to the canadian guy about photography and other things. . . . this pretty much sums up my first fitting job!

Alright. . . well now you guys have heard about my jobs so far. . . let's move on to other things!
Well .. Castings. . .. castings come and go, there are only actually two castings i care to remember:
The first one was for some internet provider.
The reason i remember it was because it was a pretty funny casting.
So the scenario was, i am sitting by my computer, then i look outside the window and see a girl on her computer behind her window. Suddenly, she starts turning into a robot and eventually flies off into space hahahhaa. . . . . So well that part was simple, all i had to do was look surprised and like "WTF?!".
The second part of the casting i was to pretend i was connecting the broadband into my computer, now as soon as i do this, i to my surprise start turning into a robot myself! hahahahha.
So i push myself away from the computer and look startled at my feet which are gradually turning into robot feet.
Then after the transformation i was supposed to stand up and look kind of satisfied with my new robot feet haha.
Then, i was to strike some super hero poses hahahhaa, i started by doing all the western hero poses like superman and stuff, but the casting person wanted more like japanese superhero hahahah, now the only japanese superhero that came to man was like voltronman or whatever his name is, he's like this guy in a red jumpsuit like the powerrangers and has a silver mask.
Anyway i stole some of his poses and the whole casting was just hilarious haha.
The second casting i remember was for mercedes benz, it was simple i just had to pretend i was driving, looking cool and smart :P But what was cool was that if i get the job they'll fly me to australia and shoot the commercial hehe. . .. buuuuut then again most car commercials want a bit older looking people so i doubt i'll get this one unfortunately :(
uuuuhmmm. . . oh and i also got a follow-up casting for the Cannon casting i did a while ago, i was sent to meet the director and stuff. . . . oh well we'll see how that goes :P

OK!
So aside from modelling related events, what have i been up to?
Weeell, i've lost my phone! I don't know how, i remember it was there a while, then i was going to reach into my pocket and check the time again, and then it was gone! So either it must've slipped out of my pocket or someone pickpocketted me. . . either way it sucks! Luckily it was a cheapo mobile from 7-eleven, so it doesn't stab me in the heart as much as when i lost my ipod. . . but still .. . pissed me off :P
I've been watching quite a few horrormovies together with Claire, poor girl is all frightened now haha.
Speaking of horrormovies, one movie we watched was called "The Strangers" (Claire was clinging on to me as if she were about to float out into space). To watch this movie we had to go to a place called "Mongkok". We'd never seen this part of hong kong before, it was really nice! I mean it looked like everywhere else in hong kong, lots of people and buildings, but there was a big "mall" called Langham Palace with an extraordinary interior.
It was sooo nice, one of the big floors with all the restaurants (We ate sushi that night) had a giant neon blue lit up room, with moving clouds projected unto it. The building also had 2 escalators, each which was longer than any escalator i had ever previously seen in my life.
It was a reaaally nice place, with amazing atmosphere.
We ended the night by going up to the very top and grabbing a beer at the bar up there. It was really cozy, i loved it. We want to go back and eat at the thai restaurant that we also found up there.
Speaking of thai restaurants, we have some really nice places near our apartment as well.
About a 5 minute walk and we come to really nice places, one place we have eaten breakfast at a few times is a bakery called Pumpernickel. MMMMMMM It's soooo good, with scrambled eggs with salmon, soups, lovely bread, etc. Claire loves the place.
We also found a really nice uteservering around that area where we grabbed a beer one evening, it was sooo nice. . . i felt like back home, i love uteserveringar.
Nearby we had also eaten at a thai restaurant one night, just before they closed, pretty cozy place but i wasn't too keen on their menu. . . . nor the prices for the amount of food i got. . . so i'm not going back there anyway haha
Oh and one place we went to a bit further away from home for breakfast, is a really nice place called "Breakfast Club".
It was AWESOOOOME! Real american breakfast with sausages, bacon, chicken, eggs, toast etc. . . . i looooooohoooooooved it hahaha!
Well enough about restaurantes.
I've decided i'm going to spend a bit more than a month in australia after hong kong, so i'll let you guys know about the dates when i get them.
I have also started applying for Universities, three courses are applied for so far:
Ekonomi Kandidat
Civilekonom
Företagsekonomi

I'm not too sure about the företagsekonomi because it's included in the ekonomikandidat program, but it lacks a bit of other things that ekonomi kandidat does offer. . .. . . i don't think i will accept företags ekonomi. . . i think i will remove it. . .. the program i really really want to get into is Ekonomi Kandidat, it's perfect for marketting, Vincent also happens to be studying it at the moment and he seems to be enjoying it.
Civilekonom is really good too, but it's not as well fitted for marketting, which is pretty much what i want to do. . . so we'll see!

Well! That just about sums it up!
I am for the first time in more than a month sleeping by my self actually, Claire is in China until friday morning shooting a catalogue. . . it sucks. . . . i miss her. . . .oh well!
Hope all is well with you guys!

Lotsa Lotsa Lotsa and Lotsa Love!

Sorry it took so long ;)

/Alex

Farmor
Lots of love!

Btw, Thought i'd let you know that making a post takes HOURS, that's why it sometimes takes a while until i have enough time to write one. . . . uugh and the pictures! I have to resize each and every one, and then i have to seperately add them one by one at a time. . . . and then drag them into place which is so freakin slow haha. . . . so that's what i mean with i haven't had time lately to write a post. . . . feels really good finishing one though :D
Enjoy!

That finally wraps it up folks!
Lots of love!
